9 in '09 Booktalks Reading Challenges
![]() Nine in 09! Happy New Year! We hope this New Year is finding you toasty warm and with loved ones. As 2009 rolls in we at Booktalks would like to issue you a challenge of sorts, well, actually nine challenges! ************************************************** ********************* 1. 1001 Books to Read Before you Die- The goal of this challenge is to read 10 books in 10 months from the 1001 Books to Read Before You Die list. For you non-math people, 10 out of 1001 is approximately 1%, hence the title. The challenge will run from Jan 1, 2009 through November 30, 2009. http://www.listology.com/content_sho...id.22845/Books ************************************************** ********************** 2.Author Challenge - Read at least three titles by the same author! http://www.booktalks.org/forums/showthread.php?t=12058 ************************************************** ********************** 3.Notable Books Challenge- We challenge you to read 20 books from the New York Notable Book, Library Journal, ALA Best Books for Young Adults or Publisher's Weekly Best of 2008 list in 2009. Genre Book Challenge 2009 Booktalks genre Challenge- The rules are simple: read at least one book from each category during 2009. You may sub one of the alternates for one of the main listings. Crime: Mystery: Thriller: Romance: Action/Adventure: Fantasy: Realistic: Historical: Young Adult: CHick Lit: Oprah's Book Choice: Memoir: Series: Alternate Horror: Self Help: http://www.booktalks.org/forums/showthread.php?t=12054 ************************************************** ********************** 5. 5 books From Five Countries From each continent below, pick 1 country and then pick a book written by someone from that country. Booktalks 50 in 2009 – The rules are simple: read 50 books during 2009. 5 points for every book you read. 3 bonus points if you create a thread for each book. Author Initials Challenge- Take Your three initials.... (Mine are JMT. or JLT if I do my maiden name instead) Find an author whose last name is the same as each intial and read one of their books.
